Transponders are no longer considered a technology miracle since they have been in use for at least fifty years. They were first developed in order to locate objects remotely. They are still used for this purpose. However, their application footprint has expanded rapidly over the years.
Simply put, transponders are high-end, sophisticated electronic devices which are used to send and receive wireless signals. In modern aviation for instance, these are used to receive ground signals and then send a reply for identification of air traffic. When fitted with a frequency converter, they can send signals of different frequencies thus facilitating the detection of different signals. These are also used to measure physical distances by calculating the time difference between sending of the interrogator signal and the receipt of the transponder's signal.
Transponders are also used in automobiles and commercial vehicles which are fitted with satellite navigation devices. These are also used in cell phones for emergency calls. Sometimes, television viewing is also facilitated by transponders.
Transponders from AVI Infosys are special-application products. They are used extensively when designing and implementing security solutions. Our transponders consist of a copper wire antenna which is attached to an integrated circuit chip without further encapsulation. These non-capsulated transponders come in a wide range of diameters from 5 mm to 120 mm. Usually, round-shaped transponders are produced but other shapes and formats are also manufactured based on specific requests from our clients. The sophisticated coil winding with a fine frequency of tuning and calibration gives these transponders excellent durability and performance.
